At the weekends during the spring, summer and early autumn most people who live in the city go to their dachas.

Nowadays good education means a good job.

I am leaving school soon and I’m thinking about possible careers and jobs. It’s very difficult to choose your future career because there are many alternatives and you don’t know where to start.

Many people prefer to live in a big city, others dream of small towns. As for me, I would like to live in a big city. There are a lot of theatres, cinemas, museums, art galleries and big shopping centers in a city. In a big city a person has more possibilities to get good education and to find a well-paid job. But there are also some disadvantages: traffic jams, long distances, air and noise pollution. Life in a city is very stressful and expensive.

Francisk Scoryna is the first translator and publisher of the Bible in the Belarusian language. He was an outstanding scientist and humanist interested in literature, law and medicine. His activities gave a power impulse to the development of all Slavonic states. Among other outstanding people we can mention Euphrosynia Polotskaya, Kirill Turovsky and Symon Budny.

Art is a great power. Different works of art have been created to please the eye and to excite emotions.The traditional arts include literature, music, dance, theatre, painting and drawing, sculpting and architecture.

As for me, I am fond of music. Music has a great impact on our mood. It makes us happy and helps us to relax. As any other form of art, music reflects life, people’s ideas and emotions. Classical music helps me feel peace and harmony inside my heart. Pop music and rap are very popular with teenagers nowadays due to mass media and mass culture.
