Тип урока: усвоение новых знаний.

Формы работы: индивидуальная, парная.
Цель: предполагается, что к концу урока учащиеся смогут сравнить праздники
Великобритании и Беларуси, будут уметь составлять монологическое высказывание
на основе прочитанного текста.
Задачи:
Образовательная: содействовать развитию навыков говорения на
основе прочитанного текста.
Воспитательная: способствовать развитию культуры
взаимоотношений при работе в парах.
Развивающая: создать условия для развития таких
аналитических способностей учащихся, как умение сравнивать и обобщать.
Оборудование: доска, мел, аудио-проигрыватель, учебное
пособие для 5 класса, тетрадь-словарь, раздаточный материал, таблица, наглядный
материал.

Good afternoon, boys and girls! How are you today?
I’m glad to see you all here.
Look at the board, please. There are different flags
on it. How can these flags of different countries be connected with our topic
“Holidays”?
What are we going to speak about?
Today we are going to speak about holidays in
different countries. The topic of our lesson is “Special days of the planet”.
The aims for the lesson today are:
ü to revise what we
learnt at the previous lesson;
ü to read a text;
ü to speak about
holidays.
Let’s stick them on the board. At the end of the
lesson, we will return to our aims. And if we achieve them we will put plus
“+”.
Look at the
alphabet, please. Do you know all the letters? Let’s revise the alphabet
together.
Now, we are
going to have a competition. I am going to spell a word or a word combination
and you are to guess and say what it is. Make a sentence with these words.

We are going to read a text. There are some
unfamiliar words for you in it. Let’s read them and try to translate.

Read the texts in turn.

Where do people celebrate the holidays in
the texts?
I have got some strips of paper. They are different
colours. Choose one strip and try to answer whether the sentences are true or
false? There are two columns on the board (True/ False). Stick your sentence
to the correct column.

their relatives on Valentine’s Day.
2. People celebrate
romantic love on Valentine’s Day.
3. Easter is a public
holiday in Britain.
4. People often hide
chocolate eggs for little children to find on the Queen’s Official Birthday.
5. People celebrate the

6. Thousands of people
come to watch a military parade on the Queen’s Official Birthday.
7. The Internet, TV and
radio programmes play jokes on people on April Fool’s Day.

speak about the holiday. You can use the pictures.
Play “The last sentence” game. Try to repeat all the
sentences after your classmates.
Match the words and make up sentences about holidays
in Belarus. When do we celebrate these holidays?
Work in pairs. Make up stories about two Belarusian
holidays.
Work in groups of four. Try to fill in the table.
What’s common and what’s different about these days in Britain and in
Belarus?
