British meals
Breakfast is the first meal of the day. British people can eat toast with butter and jam or marmalade, or a bowl of cereals or muesli with milk, or porridge, different fruit (melon, grapefruit or fruit cocktail), sausages, bacon, black pudding, scrambled or fried egg, mushrooms and beans. They usually drink orange juice or a cup of tea or coffee for breakfast.
Brunch is a meal instead of breakfast and lunch.
In the middle of the day British people have lunch. They can have meat, cheese or other sandwiches, soup and bread, biscuits. Drinks at lunchtime are very different: fruit juices, tea, coffee, Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite, 7up and others.
On Sunday British people have the Sunday roast, which is a traditional meal eaten by a family. They usually have roast beef with roast potatoes, peas, Brussels sprouts, green beans, Yorkshire pudding and gravy.
Supper is usually eaten in the evening between 7.00 and 8.30. Dinner is another name for supper. It is a cooked meal of meat or fish and two veg (one of which is often potato), and dessert after the main dish.
