Stratford-upon-Avon is a town in Central England. 
It is situated on the river Avon not far from Birmingham. 
The name of the town comes from the words 'street' and 'ford' - a pace where a river can be crossed. 
The population of the town is about 25,000 people. 
Stratford-upon-Avon is very popular with tourists as the birthplace of William Shakespeare. A lot of people from all over the world come to this town to see the house where Shakespeare was born. 
The people of the town are very hospitable and welcoming with tourists. 
Stratford-upon-Avon is very pretty with charming buildings, the picturesque river, the world-famous theatre and great shopping. 
The people of Stratford are also proud of Europe's largest butterfly farm.
